Holiday Sessions

Minnesota PhotographerQuestions?  I hope the following answers a bit about the upcoming Holiday Sessions!  Please email or call if you have any further questions and to save your date and time!  lauri@lauristumphphotography.com  612.963.2147

Why book a Holiday Session instead of a Boutique Session?

The holiday session is a great way to get updated photos of the kids (or family) to hand out as gifts for the holidays as well as get your holiday cards printed.   Or, if you are new to custom photography and would like to try it out before investing in a Boutique Session, these ‘mini’ sessions are a great way to start!  The focus of the holiday sessions will be individual/sibling photos or family photos, whatever is requested.   Immediate family only, please.  Additional photos will be taken as time allows.

Why book a Boutique Session instead of  a Holiday Session?

If you want to capture a milestone in your child’s life (birthday, newborn, just walking or sitting, etc) I would suggest the full Boutique Session.  Also, if you are interested in capturing individual photos of each of your children, a holiday session won’t allow the time or give the variety if you have more than two children.  Finally, session albums and wall galleries will benefit from the variety of the images captured during a Boutique Session.  FYI, the last day to book a Boutique Session before the holidays is October 31st to guarantee delivery by Christmas.

Can I get a canvas or large print if I book a Holiday Session?

Of course!  I would never deny someone a canvas!  *Most* of my regular products are available for purchase when booking a Holiday Session.

What is a custom holiday card?

My holiday cards are double sided 5×7, press printed cards on specialty paper.  Many designs are available so whether you like a vintage style or a more modern style, you’ll find exactly the card you need.  On top of that, you’ll be sending out the most talked about card of the season.  Really.  Samples will be available at your session so you can choose the type of paper you like best!  Card styles will be available online soon.

What is a gift print?

Any print 8×10 or smaller (8×10, 5×7, 5×5, 4×6 or a set of wallets).

What should we wear?

After your session is booked, you will receive more information about your session, including clothing ideas.

How to I reserve a spot?

Send me an email or give me a call!  All open times/dates are first come first serve.   A $100 retainer holds your date and time and is applied towards your collection purchase.  The remainder is due at your session.  Additional items may be added and paid for when placing your order with me.

How do I order?

All of your photos will be posted in a private online gallery for 7 days no later than two weeks after your session.  I’ll notify you with your password.  Choose your photos, choose your products and then I need your order within those seven days!  (Late orders subject to a $50 rush fee to guarantee holiday delivery.)

Learnfest

I haven’t even blogged about my awesome Learnfest experience that was three weeks ago already because I think I had major brain meltdown with all the ideas in my head. The four photographers/businesswomen who gave the presentations are at the top in this industry and I was amazed at how open they were with everything. First major business investment of 2009 = worth it (just in case other photog’s are reading this, questioning going :-)) I’m also so happy to have met many other photographers from across the country who I will most definitely be staying in touch with!

Just a couple photos. The main focus of Learnfest is business but we got to have some camera time too…

As you can see, I’m in no way an architectural photographer. It appears this building may fall over from the perspective I got it from..oops. But Chateau Elan was a beautiful place to stay.

And because I was a slacker, I’m thankful that Cindy Chen allowed me to snag a photo of all our instructors from her blog! ( from Orange County CA in case you need a photographer out there!)

Get in the Holiday Spirit

Updated:  I can’t keep up with the map or list anymore since there  are over 400 photographers participating now!   Check out www.givingisawesome.com to find a photographer near you (or if you’re near me, send those nominations in!!)

A fellow photographer friend of mine, Kristen Kalp of Essential Imagery in PA, sent out a challenge to the photography community to join in the spirit of giving this holiday season by giving a deserving family the gift of custom photography.  I’ve been following Kristen’s work for quite a while and those of you who have peeked at the ‘inspiration’ links above may have seen her work before and as the one who started this rapidly spreading challenge, she certainly is an inspiration for more than her awesome photography skills.  I told Kristen I’m up for the challenge and only ask in return, all of you spend a moment of time to nominate a family and forward the link on to others who may know a deserving family!  (Thank you Kristen for the use of your words below!)

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography – $1000 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s canvas or albums, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over…it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $250 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

The nominee must reside in Minnesota or western Wisconsin. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they would appreciate a custom photography session. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

Comment on this blog entry to let me know you’ve entered, and e-mail me the full story: lauri@lauristumphphotography.com.

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve…get nominating! The deadline for submitting nominations is midnight, December 22nd.  I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season – and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

Check out the links of other participating photographers across the country and pass on their link to friends you may have in other areas of the country!
