Sand or Snow

I actually went out in the snow today and took photos but I’ll get to those after I take a bit more time to remember that a week ago I was actually warm.  Of course, these are also my 365 photos again.

Photo 17

Photo 18 & 19 - This is the tiny fishing village of Majuaha which was about 4km down the road from where we stayed.

Photo 20

Photo 21 - The girls took a horseback ride with the “Man in the Sombrero”.  He was cool.

Photo 22 - As you can see, they were very thrilled to always have their picture taken.   In Troncones, aside from the beachside restaurants, most places to eat (which are few) are actually just an addition on to the persons house.  At this place, Rufi’s, the family who lived there was eating at the table next to us while Mom and Grandma made dinner for us, which was very tasty.

Photo 23 - Creepy

Photo 24 - Even with all the coconuts around, we never even had one to eat and I love fresh coconut.  Guess we’ll have to go back!

Photo 25 -I was actually up early enough a couple mornings to catch the sunrise.

Warmth

I’m still trudging through all my vacation photos which are about 70% sunsets.  I thought posting another one would make me feel a little warmer.

Catching Up - 365

Photo 8 - Project 365

I officially am going to change the titles of my posts from “Day” to “Photo”.  After an uninspiring week of -20 temperatures and days consisting of driving the girls to the bus stop and going right back into the house to not leave again all day, I was unimpressed with taking yet another photo of the dog, beer or my feet.  Plus, on some days I get more than one photo that I really would rather remember the week by so I’m still going to get to 365, one photo at a time rather than one day at a time!

This is a tattoo parlor down the road from us.  They covered up the old siding with this steel and I always thought the straight lines contrasted with the very curvy tree were interesting.

Full moon over our neighborhood accompanied by a scary old tree.

I took this photo and of course, the next few days were even colder..too cold to pull out my camera and take another photo.  I won’t forget that the lowest I saw was -19.

Jase is taking a stained glass class which he has wanted to do for quite a while.  I went with him  to Glass Endeavors one day and there are so many cool patterns and glass that I had to take back my snickering comment about his “Old Lady Project”.  I already have a few things in mind I want him to make!

Photo 12 - Project 365

There is one group on Flickr who does a 365 project completely made of self portraits.  If I would have done that project, I would be on the computer, Photoshopping myself for way too long this year but I’ll throw a few in here or there.

This is my neice.  She was having none of my picture taking.

I rented a wide angle for our vacation (next post!).  I wish my legs were as long as this lens shows them.  I was the shortest person in my family growing up and in about one more inch, I’ll be the shortest of my husband and stepkids too.  I blame it on drinking coffee when I was 10.  My parents always told me it would stunt my growth.

Project 365 - Day 6 & 7

Day 6 - 1/8/2009

You could say Jase and I have a drinking problem.  A coffee drinking problem.  This little espresso machine was Jase’s birthday present and our attempt to cut back on getting coffee’s out.  To be honest, it works!  I think I’ve had about 5 coffee’s out since we got it in September.  I *super heart* it.  (I used a macro lens for this photo that I had rented for a newborn session.  Macros are fun to play with!)

(by request, the techie stuff:  105mm macro  f3.3  1/25th  ISO1600)

Day 7 - 1/9/2009

My poinsettia before the leaves started falling off  :-(  I have no green thumb.

365 + bonus!

Day 4 - 1/6/2009

Jase got me a Peace Coffee Stout Porter (I didn’t know a beer could be both at the same time) beer kit for Christmas.  We cooked it up last week and here I was checking the specific gravity to see when it’s ready for stage 2 fermentation.  It also gives a hint as to what the alcohol content is…right now it’s at about 4% with a few weeks to go.  This post reminds me, I need to still check it tonight!

Day 5 - 1/7/2009

I drove through Minnehaha Park on the way back home from an appointment today.  I thought it was strange this one little area of sidewalk wasn’t buried in icy snow like the rest of the sidewalks.  It snowed just a little bit this morning and the fluffy snow in the cracks made for a much more interesting sidewalk.

And the bonus - Mr. Turkey was hanging out in the park by a minivan and I thought it was someone changing the tire until I looked a bit closer so I turned around, rolled down the passenger window and snapped a few shots.  Probably not such a big deal for some people but for a city girl…well, kinda cool.  After a peek at his sharp little feet, I’m glad I didn’t get out of the car.
